FRORE-First Responder Operations-Refresher

Objective: Training in hazard and risk assessment techniques, personal protective equipment, spill control and containment, decontamination and standard operating procedures in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120, Subpart H, Appendix E, Training Curriculum Guidelines (Non-Mandatory), C. Emergency response training, (a), (2)

Course Target: Individuals who respond to initial releases or potential releases.

Course Content:

  • Necessary skills as identified in OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 (q)
  • Hands-on use of current Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG) and manufacture MSDS sheets, CHEMTREC/CANUTEC, who to contact and familiarization with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.1201, possible sources of information concerning hazardous substance releases
  • Principles and practices in analyzing incidents
  • Establishing and implementing response actions with local emergency response plans, standard operation procedures, extended emergency notifications and follow-up communications
  • Personal Protective Equipment
  • Personal and Equipment Decontamination
  • Review of but not limited to the following hazards: fire and explosions; confined spaces; electrical and powered equipment; motor vehicles; walking and working surfaces
  • Cursory review of NFPA 472– Professional Competence of Responders to
  • Hazardous Materials Incidents / Weapons of Mass Destruction Incidents

Prerequisite: Completion of Initial First Responder Operation Level
