TAMTIE  Texas Air Monitoring Technician (Initial)

Objective: EPA certification by passing the course test which will enable a person to apply for a Texas Department of State Health Services Asbestos license.

Course Prerequisite: High School Diploma or GED Certificate
Course Content: Understanding of the health effects, Physical properties of asbestos / ACM. Familiarization with current federal, state, and local asbestos regulation as the apply to the Texas air monitoring technicians. Hands-on experience with current calibration equipment, calibration techniques, Calibration of actual low and high volume air pumps, calculations and documentation related to air monitoring, safety and protective clothing, respiratory protection and respirators. Practical do‵s/ and don‵ts within existing regulations. Other medical related information, air monitoring, laboratory analysis in general air sampling plans, and AHERA will be included in the course.
Test: At the completion of the course, a 50 question test will be administered. A minimum score of 70% or higher is required to for the course certification.
